Elective Academic Course

Constructions of Gender and Sexuality in Indian Modernity

An elective course on "Constructions of Gender and Sexuality in Indian Modernity" was offered to B.A., LL.B. (H) & B.B.A., LL.B. (H) students during the first semester of 2025 - 26.

Course Overview

This course explored the evolving constructs of gender and sexuality within the context of Indian modernity.

It examined intersections of gender, sexuality, caste, class, religion and law.

Intended Learning Outcomes

  • Understanding intersectional gender identities.
  • Critical analysis of gender and law.
  • Exposure to field realities and lived experiences.
Fieldwork Orientation

Fieldwork Orientation & Research Exposure

A fieldwork orientation session was organised for students to facilitate practical research exposure and gender justice engagement.

Students were introduced to field engagement methodologies, institutional frameworks and thematic exploration strategies.

The programme helped students make informed decisions while selecting fieldwork topics and understanding ground-level realities.

Experiential Learning

Experiential Learning Visits in Sheikhpura District

Students from B.A., LL.B. (H) and B.B.A., LL.B. (H) programmes visited Sheikhpura district of Bihar under the experiential learning initiative.

Key Areas Explored

  • One Stop Centres supporting survivors of violence.
  • Women-Friendly Gram Panchayats.
  • POSH Act implementation mechanisms.

Students engaged directly with institutional stakeholders and community leaders to understand practical implementation frameworks.
